<p>Glaucoma is treated and intraocular pressure lowered by topical application to the eye of tert. butylamino-3-(4-morpholino-1,2,5-thiadiazol-3-yloxy)-2-propanol hydrogen maleate (I). (I) is used with usual vehicles or excipients pref. with water-soluble solid polymers (esp. hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC)) as implants. (I) does not cause the sec. effects typical of pilocarpine and its salts (e.g. temporarily blurred vision, accommodation spasms, nigh blindness and extreme myosis. A typical implant is prepd. by compression moulding a mixt. of 1 mg and 12 mg HPC to give a film then cutting into rods.</p> |
