PURPOSE:To provide the recording medium generating no regenerative deterioration due to reading light and improved in the light fastness and deterioration caused by preservation in a light chamber, constituted by providing a recording layer comprising a coloring matter composition containing a compound having a specific structural formula as coloring matter and a quencher on a base material. CONSTITUTION:In an optical recording medium wherein a recording layer comprising a coloring matter composition is provided on a base material, a compound represented by formula [wherein Z is an atomic group necessary for forming a fused benzene ring or a naphthalene group, R1 is (substituted)alkyl, aryl or alkenyl, R2 is (substituted)aryl, L1 and L2 are (substituted)methine, l is 1, 2, Y is an atomic group necessary for forming a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring, m is 0, 1, R4 is (substituted)alkyl, aryl or alkenyl, X<-> is an anion and n is 0, 1] is used as a coloring matter and a quencher (pref., a transition metal chelate compound) is contained in the coloring matter composition. |
