PURPOSE:To attach and detach a cover by a simple constitution by providing a unit with the cover which is movable between the 1st position where the image carrier surface of the unit is exposed and the 2nd position where an image carrier is covered associatively with the loading the unloading of the unit. CONSTITUTION:A couple of parallel links 73 and 74 are each pivoted on a moving body 72 at one end and also pivoted on the flank of the cover 70 at the other end. The moving body 72 is energized by a tension spring 75 which is fixed hereto at one end and to a side plate 6 at the other end to move to left. The cover 70 is large enough and so shaped as to cover the lower surface of a photosensitive drum 1 and formed of opaque or translucent synthetic resin or a metallic material while its four corner are supported by the links 73 and 74. Then, a freely rotatable roll 77 is supported pivotally on the external surface of its side wall and a stopper 78 is stood upright fixedly at the position facing the attachment/detachment path of the unit on the device body 5 so that the stopper can engage the roll 77. Consequently, the cover which protects the photosensitive drum is attached and detached automatically.
