PURPOSE:To ensure that an ink paper cassette can not be taken out during operation of the recorder and enhance reliability of the recorder, by a method wherein whether the recorder can be operated is discriminated by using three conditions concerning the facts that a power source for the recorder is turned ON, that an ink paper cassette is present and that the cassette is prevented from being taken out or placed in position. CONSTITUTION:A photosensor 1 comprising a light-emitting part and a light- receiving part is fitted to a chassis 2, and a detection signal from the photosensor 1 is sent to a recorder controller (not shown), whereby the presence or absence of a light-reflecting body is detected. A slider 5 is provided with a light-passing window 5a. Where the cassette 8 is present and a cover 4 is closed, light emitted from the photosensor 1 is reflected by a reflector 4a to be received by the photosensor 1 because the photosensor 1 is opposed to the window 5a and the reflector 4a, whereby the presence of the light-reflecting body is confirmed. Only in this case, a preparatory operation for printing of an ink paper is conducted after the power source is turned ON. |
