PURPOSE:To improve the quality of pictures by generating plural level signals in accordance with an original image irradiated with a light source for exposure and operating these signals to output a control signal which controls image formation. CONSTITUTION:A multiplexer MPX-1 is operated in accordance with procedures stored in a memory ROM, and detection outputs of photodetectors PD1-PD3 for a standard pattern SP are applied to sample holding means SH-1 and SH-2 successively. A maximum value SPMax and a minimum value SPMin are stored in sample holding means SH-1 and SH-2 respectively. With respect to an original, a maximum value ORGMax and a minimum value ORGMin of detection outputs of photodetectors are stored in means SH-1 and SH-2 similarly. These values are operated in accordance with a table, and a driving signal corresponding to the result is outputted to a control object. Thus, vivid and high-quality pictures are obtained from originals. |
