摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate positional deviations of dots in reciprocation of a carriage due to time lag from the moment a printing signal is impressed to the moment a dot is printed and contrive higher image quality, by a method wherein the distance by which a carriage is moved during deceleration is extended so that the position of a printing paper at the time point of generating a printing signal after reversion of the moving direction is on the reversion point side of that before the reversion, whereby the printing position after the reversion coincides with that before the reversion. CONSTITUTION:A signal from a still video signal source 15 is processed by a microcomputer 16, before being written into a line memory 17. Data read from the memory 17 are converted into a printing signal by the microcomputer, and the printing signal is impressed on a plunger 7 to drive a pen 5. The plunger 7 and the pen 5 are provided on the carriage 1, which is reciprocated in the direction of the width of a printing paper by a motor 18. The motor 18 is driven on the basis of a specified velocity characteristic by a driving circuit 19 controlled by a controlling signal from the microcomputer 16. The velocity characteristic is stored in a ROM 19.
