PURPOSE:To correct skewing of a document easily and reliably by providing a roller array in the midway of a transport path for a document in such a manner that the rollers decrease in outside diameter by stages from the center of the array in the left and right peripheral directions so that either of left and right rollers is worked upon the skewed document corresponding to skewing of the document. CONSTITUTION:A skew correcting means is disposed on the downstream of transport means comprising plural pairs of transport rollers and idlers confronted with each other below and above a buffle. The correcting means includes the central transport roller 14 having the outside diameter, transport rollers 15, 16 decreasing in the outside diameter by stages toward both lateral ends and idlers 17-19 separated and brought close from and to the rollers 14, 16 (the center idler 17 is always brought into contact with the transport roller 14), wherein the idlers 18, 19 are mounted on the common shaft 28 and coupled to a shaft 26 of the idler 17 by a universal coupling 29. According to a skew detection signal, left and right solenoids 33 are controlled to change the inclined posture of the shafts 28, thereby to correct skewing. |
