1283862 Vehicle steering BENDIX CORP 9 Jan 1970 [16 Jan 1969] 1142/70 Heading B7H A vehicle steering system which compensates for lateral deviations in course is generally similar to that described in Specification 1,283,861, but includes a signal generating means 14 for modulating sensing signals according to the rate of the driver's actuation of a steering wheel, such that normal actuations of the steering wheel do not effect such modulation, while emergency actuations, i.e. made at a high rate, are not nullified by the system. The signal generating means 14 includes a housing 40 enclosing a piston 44 having an orifice 50. A source 52 supplies fluid to chambers 46, 48. The orifice 50 is dimensioned so that the means 14 only produces signals when piston 44 moves above a predetermined rate. Flow lines 62 and 64 are connected to ports 66, 68 for influencing the signal produced in sensing device 12. A lever 76 is actuated by an arm 204 in the steering linkage. |
