The invention relates to a foot-wedge device for practising physical exercises, particularly abdominal exercises. This device comprises a bearing plate 2 associated with straps 10, 11 for holding the feet, and a rigid plate 1 for insertion under a heavy object; the bearing plate 2 and the insertion plate 1 are linked together by a linking means, in particular an articulation 3 and a link system 4, or a rigid elbow, so that these plates form, in the work position, an angle alpha of between 20 DEG and 120 DEG ; these linking means are adapted so that a traction force exerted forwards on the bearing plate 2 gives rise to a moment on the insertion plate 1 tending to cause the latter to pivot upwards about an axis located in front of the said plate. <IMAGE>
