PURPOSE:To provide diversified capacity to control plate thickness by parting axially an intermediate roll of a multistage rolling mill to divide the roll to plural split rolls and making the split rolls inclinable with the axial line of work rolls. CONSTITUTION:Work rolls 11, 12 are disposed above and below and backup rolls 13, 14 are respectively disposed to the work rolls 11, 12. An intermediate roll 15 is interposed between the upper work roll 11 and the upper backup roll 13. The roll 15 is divided axially to two symmetrical split rolls 15a and 15b at the center and is made freely bendable at the parting point S to permit free adjustment of the angles alpha1, alpha2 of inclination. Said roll is also made horizontally movable in the directions A, B intersecting orthogonally with the axial line L of the roll 11. The roll 15 is thus changed to various forms and the diversified control is made possible. |
