<p>PURPOSE:To improve the thermal efficiency by blowing SiC powder or SiC powder and C powder by means of a carrier gas, forming a foam layer in slag on the surface of molten steel with generated gaseous CO, and wrapping arc in the foam layer. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel is charged into a heating vessel provided with electrodes from a melting furnace, and it is refined by reduction in the presence of basic reducing slag under heating with arc while carrying out agitation by blowing an inert gas. At this time, SiC powder or SiC powder and C powder are blown by means of a carrier gas, a foam layer is formed in the slag on the surface of the molten steel with generated gaseous CO, and arc is wrapped in the foam layer. When SiC powder and C powder are blown, the weight ratio is regulated to 1:99-90:10.</p> |
