PURPOSE:To obtain a high S/N and to attain recording/reproduction over a long time with high recording density by using an optical information recording medium having a recording layer using a monomolecular accumulated film as a major layer and utilizing optical changes attended with the chemical change or aggregated structure changes of the accumulated film to record/reproduce the information. CONSTITUTION:A layer using a monomolecular accumulated film as a major layer is used as a recording layer of a recording medium, the chemical changes attended with the chemical change of the accumulated film or the changes of aggregated structure are utilized or a high density energy beam such as a laser beam is irradiated to form a bit on the accumulated film to record/reproduce the information. Since the moleculars are arranged regularly on the monomolecular accumulated film, advantages such as orientation of transition dipoles resulting in increases in the absorption factor and reflectance, increase in mutual action between molecules, improvement of the uniform density, increases in the density and improvement of uniform film thickness are shown and the advantages contribute to high sensitivity of an optical information recording medium, high contrast, high recording density, improvement in the stability against heat and light and low noise (high S/N). |
