PURPOSE:To enable good halftone recording generating no fusion bonding under high temp. operation, by dispersing a dye in base paper containing a porous material to impregnate the same. CONSTITUTION:A solution prepared by dissolving a disperse dye in an org. solvent such as methylene chloride is applied to base paper by passing said base paper through said solution or coating the same with said solution as ink by roller coating to impregnate a porous material. Thereafter, the base paper is dried under heating to obtain desired thermal transfer paper. If treatment due to a calender roll is performed after drying, the base paper is reduced in a thickness, becomes dense, forms a flat surface and is improved in heat conductivity. As a result, thermal transfer paper imparting high transfer density under same Joule heat at the time of recording and good in efficiency is obtained. Because the porous material part in the base paper is impregrated with the disperse dye, said dispersed dye is not fusion bonded to recording paper even if the disperse dye heated to a high temp. by a thermal recording head comes to a molten state and halftone recording having desired density is enabled by controlling the Joule heat of the recording head. |
