In the case of a damping device having at least two flywheel masses which are arranged coaxially with respect to one another and can be rotated in a limited manner with respect to one another against the influence of damping means, in order to improve the damping characteristic of the device and in order to extend the possible field of use, the rotation resistance between the two flywheel masses can be controlled in such a manner that said resistance can reduce with increasing rotational speed.
