<p>A survival system for marine structures such as an offshore drilling or production platform. The system comprises an enclosed type life boat (1) stably supported on a ramp for being launched through falling freely from the ramp outlet end. The ramp includes at least three separate parallel guide rails (3) each adapted to cooperate with a respective life boat bearing point (2), the effective lengths of the rails (3) being adjusted in a manner to have the bearing points (2) leave their respective rails simultaneously. Consequently the life boat will not be subject to any rotary moment upon leaving the ramp and will maintain its original ramp angle during its free fall. Alternatively the lengths of the rails (3) may be varied to obtain a predetermined controlled forward or backward rotation of the falling boat.</p> |
