RECORDING LIQUID CONTAINING DISAZO BASED DYE

PURPOSE:A recording liquid, containing a novel disazo based dye as a recording agent, having improved recording characteristics, storage stability, fixing property to a material to be recorded, and giving recorded images having improved light, weather and water resistance, and suitable as a method of flying the solution as droplets from an outlet for recording. CONSTITUTION:A recording liquid containing preferably 0.1-20wt% dye expressed by formula I (Q is phenylene or naphthylene substituted by -SO3M; R is H, lower alkyl, nitro, halogen, etc.; R<1> is phenyl substituted by -SO3M or -COOM, lower alkyl substituted by -COOM, etc.; R<2> is H, lower alkyl substituted by -COOM; M is alkali metal, ammonium or amine; n is 0 or 1), e.g. a compound expressed by formula II, etc. as a recording agent. The above-mentioned dye is obtained by diazotizing an amine expressed by formula III, coupling the resultant diazo compound with an amine expressed by formula IV (Q<1> is phenylene, etc.) to form a monoazo compound expresed by formula V, diazotizing the resultant monoazo compound, and coupling the resultant diazo compound with a naphthol expressed by formula VI.
