In a process and device for forming an end part, which is bent back preferably so as to be J-shaped in longitudinal section, onto a plastics pipe part with formed-on socket, an end part of an end extension of the plastics pipe part is bent back with the aid of a bending-back surface using a friction-reducing medium between the exterior of the end extension and the bending-back surface acting therewith. By this means, the desired bending-back can be achieved very rapidly with a single bending-back surface to form a bent-back end part, the bent-back end part being in addition optimally formed. A sealing element is reliably fixed in the pipe part by means of the bent-back end part.
