PURPOSE:To aim at making a cylinder block lightweight, by integrally incorporating metal sleeves for sliding pistons and thermohardening synthetic resin outer walls, with a metal fremework. CONSTITUTION:Support columns 6 of a cast-iron type framework F are formed with boss sections 6a, 6b in which formed are bolt through-holes 10 for coupling a crankshaft bearing block and a cylinder head with the framework F. Fitting mail sections 5a which are formed in the bottom end sections of cylinder sleeves 5 are fitted in fitting holes 12 in bottom walls 8 that are integrally incorporated with lower rib plates 7 of the framework F, through the intermediary of seal rings 13. The support columns 6 of the framework F and the rib plates 7 are molded with a thermohardening synthetic resin outer wall section so that window holes 11 in the rib plates 7 are shielded by the outer wall sections with a water jacket being formed between the cylinder sleeves 5 and the outer wall section. |
