The invention relates to novel 2-phenylindazoles of the general formula (I) <IMAGE> in which R<1> and R<2> independently of one another represent alkyl, optionally substituted phenyl or phenylalkyl or <IMAGE> represents a saturated 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, X represents alkyl, halogen or phenyl, n represents 0, 1 or 2 and A represents <IMAGE> hydrogen or amino and R<3> represents hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, amino, alkoxy, alkyl, optionally substituted phenyl or phenalkyl or represents <IMAGE> The novel compounds I are suitable as charge carrier-transporting compounds in electrophotographic recording materials.
