A production process which is suitable especially for the production of district heating pipes having an enclosing tube (e) made of plastic is specified. The insulation (b) below this consists of PUR foam, the inner medium-carrying pipe (a) comprises a corrugated stainless steel pipe. The process consists essentially in a) drawing off a prefabricated, corrugated plastics pipe (e) from a supply reel (3) in the longitudinal axis of the production system, cutting it open longitudinally and bending it apart, b) inserting the medium-carrying pipe (a) drawn off from another supply reel (1) into the opening of the plastics pipe and simultaneously introducing the PUR foam compound dropwise and c) finally bending the plastics pipe together and longitudinally welding its slit. <IMAGE>
