The general aim of the invention is to utilise the wind force more effectively for the propulsion and to be able to use relatively larger sail areas. This is achieved by three measures: 1. by a sail combination, e.g. fore sail and main sail, being fixed in their position relative to one another and by being fastened to a mast which can be rotated about its own axis through at least 300 DEG relative to the hull; 2. by the mast being able to perform rotary/pendulum movements about a point lying in its axis, by means of which movements the mast tip and the mast foot describe spatial circular or elliptical paths and the sail, on any course, can be put into a position relative to the wind in which it produces propulsion and buoyancy and prevents capsizing; 3. by the sail being given an aerodynamically favourable profile which is independent of the sail position, and in fact by connecting the bottom edge of the sail to a leaf spring instead of to the boom, which leaf spring is fastened to the mast at a fixed angle and can be profiled by trimming sheets like an arc through a chord.
