The invention starts from a strip guide and drive roller for a device for the wet treatment of strip-shaped photographic bases, having at least one treatment container, through which the base runs in a U-shape over the rollers, the roller being mounted for free rotation on a driven shaft and the roller shell being displaceable by the deformation, obtainable by the traction of the strip-shaped base, of an elastic member towards the shaft axis to such an extent that the roller is taken along by the shaft. To simplify the facility for making the elastic member, the roller shell (4) is itself formed as an elastic member which is mounted on the shaft (1) by means of two side discs (5) which are essentially rigid, engage in the shell and are rotatable on the shaft, and comes into engagement with a drive element, fixed concentrically on the shaft secure against rotation, by deflection under the action of the strip traction. <IMAGE>
