PURPOSE:To effectively restrain bending of an electrode so as to easily obtain compact lamps of uniform characteristics with good yield, by further providing a side plate having the function of pressing on at least one side of a pressing body. CONSTITUTION:A pair of pressing body is composed of the first pressing body 15, 15 for press-crushing and sealing the seal portion of a lamp by pressing in mutually opposite dimentions from both main sides of a metal foil conductor 7 sealed to the tube 1 to be sealed, and the side plates 15a, 15a provided on at least one side of the first pressing body 15, 15, similarly having the function of pressing, and becoming the second pressing body. Both main surfaces of the metal foil conductor 7 in the portion to be sealed are pressed by the first pressing body 15, 15 while both side surfaces of the metal foil conductor 7 are almost simultaneously pressed by the second pressing body 15a, 15a. Accordingly, deflected efflux, in such as a transverse direction of glass softened or melted in the seal portion is also restrained, and the movement of the metal foil conductor 7 is completely prevented and further the positional deviation of the electrode 5 etc. is eliminated, and the bulbs having uniform characteristic are obtained with good reproductiveness. |
