Vehicle roof with a roof opening which can be closed by means of a cover. A roof lining is arranged at a distance underneath the roof skin. The roof lining has a cutout which is aligned with the roof opening and can be closed by means of an adjustable ceiling part. The cover is connected to an adjusting device for raising the front edge of the cover and/or the rear edge of the cover above the roof skin, as desired. The space between the roof skin and the roof lining is designed as a channel for incoming fresh air or as a channel for outgoing air. The channel is connected to the passenger compartment via at least one opening situated behind the cutout in the roof lining (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
