METHOD FOR CONTROLLING GUIDING OF FRONT END OF WIRE IN WATER COOLING ZONE

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of scuff marks and guiding trouble in a wire water cooling zone after finish rolling by disposing linear motors in the water cooling zone to apply thrust to the wire and controlling the thrust. CONSTITUTION:The wire 2 is detected via a timer 12 by a detector 11 in front of a finishing mill 1 and the water cooling is started successively in order of water cooling zones 4a 4b 4c 4d by a water cooling controller 19. The wire 2 emitted from the finishing mill 1 is detected by a detector 13 and a moving magnetic field moving in synchronization with the wire speed is generated by the linear motor 10a connected to a variable frequency power source 18 via a timer 14a to exert the thrust to the front end of the wire 2. The thrust is controlled to guide stably the front end of the wire 2 by overcoming the hydraulic resistance and frictional resistance in the water cooling zone.
