For protecting plant cultivations, in particular in tunnel-type, closed and sealed cultivation beds inside conventional greenhouses against excessive heat effect in hot seasons and against excessive heat loss in cooler seasons, it is envisaged to manufacture, from a transparent plastic and an organic salt which absorbs IR radiation up to approximately 90%, two identical shells in the form of a cover for the cultivation bed, to keep the two shells at such a mutual distance that in each case the heat radiation from the shell at the front in the direction of the heat radiation is prevented by the shell at the rear in this direction, while, for temperature control of the atmosphere in the tunnel-type cultivation bed, warm air from the greenhouse atmosphere is mixed into the atmosphere in the cultivation bed in summer, while the shell facing the plant cultivations is selectively blown on by weak convection in the cooler season.
