In an erecting device for a height-extendable tower crane in which the tower elements are in each case inserted into an intermediate space between a lower mast and an upper part of the crane, and the upper part of the crane is pushed away from the lower mast by means of a climbing device supported on a lifting mechanism, the climbing device can be joined together on the crane itself on the basis of the following components: 1) a laterally projecting connection rail is provided on the upper part of the crane, 2) a tubular column corresponding to the intermediate space is linked to this connection rail, which tubular column has two pairs of laterally projecting guide arms, 3) one flexurally rigid U-shaped guide frame each is attached to the pairs of guide arms and is pinned to them, 4) in its area facing the lower mast, the tubular column is connected in an articulated manner to a lifting cylinder which lifts the unit consisting of guide frame, tubular column, connection rail and crane upper part from the lower mast. This erecting device has extremely favourable transport properties and in addition has the advantage that it can climb virtually continuously from tower element to tower element without the upper part of the crane first having to be bolted every time to the lower mast in order to move the climbing device into position. <IMAGE>
