A planting tower (10) with improved watering property has a water collecting bowl (14) which supports an upright growth region (16). This has an inner tube part (36) and an outer tube part (38), between which a plant growth medium can be introduced. The growth region (16) is located on a bottom wall (50) provided with openings (58) which allow the flowing off of water from the growth medium into the water collecting bowl (14) lying below it.
