<p>Fabric for singeing is expanded and its selvedges spread before it runs in an S-curve path over two spaced suction rolls, near to each of which is a gas burner which treats one fabric face across its full width before it reaches a flame extinguisher. Each roll has an inner barrel coupled at one end to a suction source, and suction holes in the barrel increase in density towards the other end. Spaced outwardly from the inner barrel is an outer barrel with many small holes and a mesh wrapper. Specifically the holes of the inner barrel are round, or are slits which become longer with distance from the suction source. The gas burners are adjustable as to distance from the suction rolls and jet angle. Fabric is truly flat and unstretched for singeing on suction rolls.</p> |
