A trailer overrun brake forms an integral part of a drawbar, which comprises two areas (11, 12), movable towards one another, which are arranged for relative movements generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the drawbar and are loaded by the force of a spring away from one another into outer limit positions, from which they can be moved towards one another into inner limit positions, thereby operating an operating device (25) for the trailer brakes when an external compressive force is exerted on the drawbar. The two drawbar areas (11, 12) are connected to one another by two articulated levers (15, 16), which are swivel mounted on these areas (11, 12) and arranged along the drawbar at a distance from one another. The swivel axes (17-20) of the articulated levers (15, 16) extend parallel to one another and transversely to the drawbar.
