PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording paper excellent in color forming property, high-speed recording property and stability of ground and improved in discoloration of recorded images and reverse plating, wherein a specified biphenyl derivative is incorporated in a thermal recording layer together with a colorless or light-colored color forming substance and a color developing substance. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording layer comprising a colorless or light-colored color forming substance, e.g., 3-(N-cyclohexyl-N-methylamino)-6-methyl-7-anilinofluoran, a color developing substance for developing the color of the color forming substance when being heated, e.g., benzyl p-hydroxybenzoate, and a biphenyl derivative of formula I , wherein R is H or formula II, and each of R1-R4 is H, lower alkyl or halogen, e.g., 4'-(phenylmethoxy)-1,1'-biphenyl-4-ol, and/or a biphenyl derivative of formula III, e.g., 4,4'-bis(phenylmethoxy)-1,1'-biphenyl, the amount of the biphenyl derivative being preferably 1-200pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the color developing substance, is provided on a base to obtain the objective thermal recording paper. |
