PURPOSE:To automatically obtain a planar body ground by a given thickness by a method wherein the thickness of a planar body being transferred horizontally is measured to be compared with the reference tolerance and the horizontal transfer mechanism is stopped when it is not in the range of the tolerance. CONSTITUTION:With rotation of a plurality of rollers 104, a plate-shaped body 1 to be measured in the thickness is transferred horizontally in the direction of the arrow. The plate-shaped body 10 is detected with a photo sensor 122 to drive a measuring roller 162 and held between rollers 104 to measure the thickness thereof 10 with a thickness sensor 164. Upon the detection of the plate-shaped body 10 with a photo sensor 166, a measured value signal is transmitted to a grinder 200 for control. When the thickness is not in the range of the reference tolerance previously selected, a signal is generated to stop a motor 182. |
