PURPOSE:To enable the measurement of flow velocity accurately without disturbing the flow by providing a Venturi tube, a cylinder probe having a condenser at the tip thereof and a means of receiving scattered lights to prevent the generation of eddies and bubbles. CONSTITUTION:A Venturi tube 11 cylindrical and having a thick part with a circular arc section inside is connected to the tip of a cylinder probe 10 with the axes thereof vertical to each other and fixed. A condenser 5 is provided behind a condenser 4 to focus scattered lights from particles passing through an interference fringe area and an optical fiber 6 is arranged at the focal position. The optical fiber 6 introduces lights scattered passing through the cylindrical probe section 10 to a signal processing section, which converts the scattered lights applied into an electrical signal with a photoelectric converter to detect the speed of particles based on the frequency of a burst signal. The probe section thus arranged, inserted into a passage prevents the protrusion of the cylindrical probe 10 thereby eliminating turbulence in the water flow in the Venturi tube 11 otherwise caused by the insertion of the probe. |
