A spreadable heat-activatable adhesive composition comprises a clay filler suspended in an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol (wholly or partially hydrolysed ester), a titanium oxalate complex and ammonium bicarbonate, said composition having a pH of 6 or less, and gelation being obtainable by raising the pH above 7 (as when heating liberates ammonia). Examples relate to compositions of kaolin, polyvinyl alcohol, potassium titanium oxalate, ammonium bicarbonate, dimethyl phthalate and nonylphenoxy-poly(ethyleneoxy ethanol, being useful in making corrugated board. |
