PURPOSE:To prevent transfer drop-out by forming a conveying path for paper between a transfer device and a separating device as well as an image carrying body on a downhill grade and disposing a guide member in such a way as to energize the paper near the intermediate point of the conveying path in the direction of the image carrying body. CONSTITUTION:Paper 32 which is fed and is passed through a guide plate 17 in the inlet side advances into the spacing between a photosensitive drum 30 and a transfer device 31 and when the paper arrives at the neiborhood of a guide plate 35, the regulating part 35a of the plate 35 is positioned below the conveying direction of the paper 32 and therefore the front end of the paper is separated. As the paper advances to a conveying member 34, the paper 32 is separated successively by a separating device 33 while the paper is regulated by a regulating part 35a and the front end side of the paper is kept sagged by the dead load. Since the member 34 is positioned below the device 33, the rear end of the paper 32 is detached from the guide member 17 for feeding paper and when the paper approaches to the drum 30, the force by the dead load on the front end side of the paper 32 acts in the direction B with the part 35a as a fulcrum thus generating the force to bring the rear end of the paper 32 into tight contact with the drum 30. Generation of transfer drop-out at the rear end of the paper and the consequent deterioration in the image quality are thus prevented.
