<p>PURPOSE:To provide improvement in efficiency of a connecting operation and lessening of manpower and to prevent deterioration in strength in the juncture of optical fibers by removing the coverings of the fibers by using brushes formed of organic material, aminal or vegetable fibers or a fiber mixture composed thereof. CONSTITUTION:Rollers 6, 6' provided with brushes 5 rotated toward arrows A, A' by a motor 7. When optical fibers 2 removed of secondary coverings are inserted between the rollers 6 and 6' in this state, the primary covering and cushion layer are rubbed away by the brushes 5. The brush-like fibers can enter easily between the multicored fibers 2 as well and therefore the remaining coverings 3 between the fibers are rubbed away. Since the device is so constructed as to rub away the coverings of the fibers 2 by the soft brushes 5 in the above-mentioned way, the damage that the device gives to the fibers 2 is extremely less and the reliability in the juncture of the fibers 2 is considerably improved.</p> |
