PURPOSE:To control a magnetic head to move it back and forth between preliminarily set tracks by providing a disc track movement control diagnostic means and a self-diagnosis selecting switch which designates the operation of this diagnostic means and controlling rotation of a spindle, to which a disc is set, and rotation of a pulse motor when this operation is designated by the switch. CONSTITUTION:If a self-diagnosis selecting switch 24 is turned on at a power-on time preliminarily, a test flag TEST is set to execute the self-diagnostic processing. In this self-diagnostic processing, a floppy disc 3 is detected by a medium detector 18 to set a medium flag MD, and rotation of a motor 1 is controlled to rotate the spindle. If the inserted floppy disc is an ordinary disc which is not protected from write, an ordinary medium processing is performed. In this ordinary medium processing, a pulse motor 12 is so controlled that a magnetic head 4 is moved back and forth between the track zero position and the 40th track. When the floppy disc 3 is removed from the device, the self-diagnostic processing is terminated. |
