1324398 Photographic cameras EASTMAN KODAK CO 20 Aug 1970 [20 Aug 1969] 40162/70 Heading G2A A single lens reflex camera has a holder 4a for receiving a percussion ignitable flash unit, e.g. a flash cube, and for locating a striker 26a thereof in a firing position, the camera also being provided with a shutter having a rotatable control shaft 22a carrying a pinion 22, and with an actuating bar 6 which is connected to the shaft 22a for movement into the firing position in synchronism with shutter operation. When no flash unit is present Fig. 1 (not shown), a latch member (5) is held by a spring (5a) so as to engage a projection (6c) of the bar (6) to prevent it rising. When the shutter is actuated, movement of the shaft 22a is transmitted to a three arm lever 16 which actuates the shutter 2 and raises the mirror 20. Insertion of a flash unit depresses a member 4, thus rotating the latch 5 and allowing the bar 6 to rise until an end thereof engages, but does not release, the striker 26a. As the shutter is actuated, a cam 16a on an arm 16d of the lever engages a projection 6a of the bar to raise the latter and release the striker to fire the flash-lamp. The movement also results in a flag 10c becoming visible in the camera viewfinder. |
