PURPOSE:To obtain an exhaust device which is short in the direction of advance of a vehicle and which may be also satisfactorily settled in the transverse direction of the vehicle, in which an engine is installed in a vehicle body space between rear wheels, by providing a plurality of expansion chambers in a muffler casing in a direction at a right angle to the advance direction of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A muffler 10 is formed such that first through third expansion chambers 13 through 16 are defined in a cylindrical muffler casing 11 by means of plates 12, 13. Further, an exhaust manifold chamber 18 is formed along the peripheral wall of the muffler casing 11 by a partition plate 17. These chambers 14 through 16, and 18 are communicated together by means of pipes 19 through 22, and are also communicated to the ambinet air, and the muffler 10 is laid in the rear of a V-type engine 30 so that the axis of the muffler casing 11 extends in parallel with the axles of the vehicle. Further, exhaust pipes 31, 32 which are connected at their one end respectively to the front and rear cylinders 30a, 30b of the V-type engine 30, are connected at their other end to inlet ports 33 provided in the peripheral wall of the muffler 11. |
