PURPOSE:To improve dispersibility into an org. medium by modifying a hydrophilic surface, by treating the surface of the titled material with a specified Al compd. and then with a beta-diketone. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the titled material is treated with an Al compd. contg. an aluminum chelate compd. of the formula (wherein R is R<3>, R4CO; R1 is a 1-6C alkyl; R2, R3, R4 are each a 1-22C alkl, a 3-22C alkenyl, a 6-14C aryl, a 7-15C aralkyl; a 7-17C alkylaryl with the proviso that at least one of them is an 8C or higher alkyl, 3C or higher alkenyl or an arom. group; m, n is 0,1,2,3 and on an average m=0.5-2.7, n=0.3-2.5, m+n=0.8-3) and then with a beta-diketone such as acetylacetone. When a small quantity of the material is added to a pigment for printing ink, effects of greatly improving clarity and imparting good dispersibility can be obtd. |
