The invention relates to an anti-fraud device for an electronic-memory card reader which makes it possible to detect any attempt to insert a dummy card in order to gain access to the signals exchanged between the processing circuit of the reader and the integrated circuit of the card. For this purpose, the insertion passage 10 of the card reader is equipped with detection elements 46, 48 arranged in the said passage 10 and processing means 52 for the signals delivered by the detection elements 46, 48 in order to detect the presence, in the passage 10, of foreign conducting wires. <IMAGE>
