The swell test tank comprises a rectangular pit 1, dug in horizontal ground 2, where the level of the ground water 3 is permanently flush with the surface of the ground 2. The lateral walls 4 and 5 and the central walls 6 and 7 of the pit have a stable lateral slope. The wall 6 serves as a damping area for the swell generated by the beater 8. Rigid thin walls 9, 10, 11 are constructed at the foot of the walls 5, 6, 7. These thin walls delimit the horizontal bottom 12 of the tank. The swell beater 8 is fixed to the central thin wall 11 and generates the swell between the two parallel thin walls 9 and 10. <IMAGE>
