PURPOSE:To suppress the temperature rise and consequently improve the safety and reliability in the vicinity of a cord outlet by a method wherein the resistance value of a heat generating body near the cord outlet of an electric carpet is heightened. CONSTITUTION:A heat generating body employed in the title appliance consists of core threads 11 and 11', a pair of electrodes 12 and 12', a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) resistor 13 and a sheathing material 14 and has a large positive temperature coefficient of resistance. When said heat generating body is applied to an electric carpet, the heat generating body near the cord outlet (a) is fixed to a main body by bonding agent containing organic solvent or by heat fusion bonding with a temperature of 100 deg.C or above in order to heighten the resistance value of the heat generating body at the portion near the cord outlet (a). The PTC resistor 13 is formed by mixing and kneading carbon black powder, polymer, the main component of which is crystalline resin, and additional matter. When the PTC resistor 13 is swelled by immersing or the like in organic solvent, its resistance value increases steeply. Further, when the PTC resistor 13 is left under a high temperature of 100 deg.C or above for several minutes, its resistance value also increases steeply. |
