Friction damper

In a friction damper (1, 3), the damper ram (3) consists of a top plate (4) having friction pieces (5) which are supported thereon such that they can rotate and having flow resistance bodies (7) which are mounted thereon. In this case, the damping resistance is produced on the one hand from the flow resistance of these flow resistance bodies (7) and on the other hand from the friction force between friction surfaces (8) arranged on the damper housing (1), as a consequence of the pressure force of the damping medium (2) flowing around the resistance body (7) resulting from the movement of the vibrating object. <IMAGE>
