The invention relates to a hull for a yacht, in particular a sailing yacht, with devices for maintaining the buoyancy in the event of sea damage. Foldable, inflatable bags 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 of an elastic, flexible material are mounted in hollow spaces in the hull 1 and are connected to a propellent-gas container 22 by means of connecting lines 17, 18, 19, 20, 21. Located in the propellent-gas container 22 is a mixture 27 which during a heating effect reacts with great reaction velocity to form a propellent gas of large volume. The heating effect is brought about by igniting an ignition cartridge 23, which can be effected by an actuating member 24 outside the propellent-gas container 22. <IMAGE>
