Homopolymerisation or copolymerisation process of a 2-12C alpha olefin in soln. suspension or gas phase at 20 to 150 degrees C up to 50 atm. is carried out in the presence of a catalyst mixture, consisting of (a) the reaction product of a Titanium compound e.g. TiXn(OR)4-n (where n is 1-4 and R is 1-18C alkyl) and a Mg compound e.g. a magnesium alcoholate, and (b) an organo aluminium compound e.g. a di- or a trialkyl aluminium. The compound (a) is opt. prepared by reaction a magnesium alcoholate and tetravalent titanium compound. |
