In a carpet sweeper including a housing 1 beneath which are at least one dust receptacle 17, and a rotary brush 3 driven by the wheels 4 supporting the sweeper, the sides and ends of the housing 1 have outer and inner walls, the inner walls 10, 11 extending downwardly from the top of the wall of the housing. The wheels 4 are of hard rubber and have plate-like spokes flexible in radial planes and pairs of front and rear wheels 4 are each supported by a member 60 which is adjustable in height relatively to the housing 1 by an eccentric bearing device adjusted by a lever 65 (Fig. 3, not shown). Each dust receptacle carries two brushes 79 arranged at the four corners of the housing 1 and is provided with a finger piece 70 exposed through openings in the housing 1 and which are pressed downwardly for tilting the receptacle to empty it. Two combs 31 (Fig. 3, not shown) are provided for cleaning the brush 3. |
