A master cylinder of the kind comprising a cartridge piston assembly received in a bore of the housing, said piston assembly including a sleeve member and a bearing member in which are slidably and sealingly received a pair of piston members cooperating with these members and the housing bore to define a pair of variable-volume pressure chambers. According to this invention, the sleeve member (56) and the bearing member (52) are secured to one another permanently as by pressfitting, thus permitting to insert (or remove) the whole piston assembly (50) into (or from) the housing (12) as a unit.
