PURPOSE:To attain easy and quick grasp of characteristics of a communication line and investigation of cause of fault by discriminating automatically the ramdom and burst characteristics of a code error. CONSTITUTION:A received code is compared (2) with a reference pattern from a generating section 3, a signal is outputted for a prescribed time from a timer circuit 4 in response to the detection of a code error and a consecutive code error is discriminated (5) based on the said signal and an error detection signal and the number of burst code errors is counted (6). Moreover, the total number of code errors is counted (7). The ratio of the total number to the number of the burst errors is calculated (8), the ratio is compared (10) with a threshold value (9) to discriminate automatically burst and random code errors. |
