The invention relates to a coffee-making machine having a brewing unit and at least two supply containers with control members for the brewing operation which respond to the degree of filling of said supply containers in such a way that the filling of one container is dependent on the filling state of the other. The intention is to construct a coffee-making machine of this type in a simple manner such that it produces and delivers a supply quantity of coffee of satisfactory quality, which quantity can be selected to correspond to the respective requirements. The delivery of stale remaining amounts from the supply containers, interruptions in operation due to cleaning the supply containers, and the delivery of incomplete portions are to be avoided at the same time. This object is achieved in that the control members of both supply containers, of which at least one holds more than one batch of the brewing unit and can be adapted to the respective requirement of coffee in respect of its upper filling level, initiate at least one brewing operation for filling the respective other supply container in each case when the filling level drops below a given lower level. The respective second container is thus provided with coffee as soon as the level of coffee in the other container drops below a preselected minimum supply. With the aid of few electrodes, a multiplicity of different supply quantities can be selected.
